Toronto Income Property Newsletter: Spring 2026
After a long and drawn-out winter in the GTA, things are starting to look a little brighter in the real estate market as Spring has descended upon us. For the first time since last year, I have noticed the volume of income-generating properties on the market has finally started to increase. The good news is that interest rates are still dropping and may even go down a little further. Perhaps more importantly, prices seem to be settling down to a point where some of the properties make fiscal sense and do yield a decent R.O.I.
The last few months of Toronto real estate have been characterized by a lot of cold and snowy weather. It is still cold out there. The big storm we experienced a couple of months ago was one of the worst on record. Real estate activity ground to a half for several weeks as we dug ourselves out. Also, on a macro level Donald Trump has been creating chaos and causing feelings of uncertainty around the world. The war in the Middle East is going to have far-reaching consequences for all industries, not just real estate in Toronto. His tariffs and trade initiatives with Canada will also affect our financial markets. When there is economic uncertainty, many buyers and sellers like to wait on the sidelines until things settle.
That said, life for all of us moves on. If you or someone you know is looking to get into Toronto real estate and would like solid fiscal advice on how best to proceed, please reach out to me at any time. I have been on the financial end of buying smart real estate now for almost 25 years, so I’m sure my perspective may be helpful. You can contact me at paul@plex.ca
